My goal for 2010 was to fish with confidence and a positive attitude no mater what happened during each tournament, and get myself back to the Classic. I feel good about achieving my initial goal. Making the top 12 for the Post Season was "icing on the cake". Three top 12 cuts and five top 47 cuts put me in 4th place in the AOY points race going into the Post Season. A personal best in my four years with the Bassmaster Elite Series. The Post Season in Alabama was a great experience. I was fishing with some of the greatest anglers of all time. I told one of my Marshals that I had to pinch myself every now and then to make sure it was real. My performance on the first day of each tournament put me behind the eight ball, but I felt good about the fact that I figured things out on the 2nd day of each tournament and weighed in some good bags. Unfortunately not enough to hang on to my 4th place position in the AOY race. I had never been on these two bodies of water before and the other anglers experience showed. It's a lot different fishing two day tournaments rather than the 3-4 day tournaments we're used to. It leaves no room for error with this bunch of guys! One of the highlights of the entire week was fishing with the Wounded Warriors. My partner Jon and I had a blast catching 3-5 pound fish the entire day on a private lake near Montgomery. It was truly a privilege and an honor to spend time with these guys and share a day of fishing with them. They are a class act and deserve to be honored. I hope to be involved in more fishing events with this remarkable organization. The last day weigh-in in Montgomery was extremely hot and they kept things moving along pretty fast for fish care reasons. I never got a chance to thank all of my sponsors and my support team of family and friends. I wanted to thank Triton boats for keeping me on their team this year, and Mercury-Motor Guide for powering the boat. It's a phenomenal tournament combination that I have complete confidence in. I would also like to thank St. Croix Rods for supplying me with the best fishing rods on the market. I have used St Croix rods since childhood and every fish I have ever weighed in at a tournament has been caught on a St. Croix rod. Thanks to Costa Del Mar for the supply of great sunglasses. They really do help you see fish in the water and protect your eyes from sun damage. I couldn't fish effectively without them. I would also like to thank Omega Custom Tackle. I have been with Omega since 2007 and we've grown together as a company and a fisherman. My Omega wrap has given me angler recognition and Omega Jigs are a superb product. Together we developed my Signature Series Football Jig and I look forward to developing new products with them in the future. Last but not least I want to thank my family & friends, my girlfriend Kelli for putting up with all of my travels and time away, and all of my fans across the country. I noticed the folks from Alabama cheering for me at the post season weigh-ins. I have called Alabama home for 3 years now and I thank you for making me feel like one of your own. I am looking forward to the Classic in New Orleans in Feb. 2011 and then it's on to the 2011 season! Thanks and Good Fishing! |

Derek Remitz, who was third in the TTBAOY race heading into this tournament, didn't fall, despite the fact that his Day One 12-13 had him in 43rd place. But with 17-2 Friday, he moved back up into the top 20 and added a bit more glue to his hold on the postseason. He remains in third. Complete Story |

PARIS, Tenn. — After a stellar rookie season that included a victory on Lake Amistad, Derek Remitz seemed to lose his winning edge. For the last two seasons, he failed to qualify for the Classic and was not fishing with confidence. This season, Remitz is fishing like a new man. Entering the Tennessee Triumph, he was third in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race, behind only Edwin Evers and Skeet Reese. With 18 pounds, 11 ounces on Day One at Kentucky Lake, Remitz keeps putting the pressure on the leaders. Complete Story |

Clarks Hill 5th: Remitz Gains a Spot |
|
Remitz is in the final-day field for the second straight event. Before his 12th-place finish at Guntersville earlier this month, he hadn't competed on a Sunday since he did it here 3 years ago. "The way practice went, I'm just really happy to be in the Top 12," he said. "I've based everything on my last hour of practice – I was going to go in early, but I made myself stay out a couple more hours. Complete Story |

The 2010 Bass Master Elite Series has just eclipsed the half way point of the season and OMEGA Custom Tackle Pro Derek Remitz The “Wolverine” is sitting right where he wants to be. Remitz just competed in, and landed a top 12 finish in the Southern Challenge held on his home lake, Lake Guntersville in Northern Alabama May 6-9. The young Alabama pro weighed in a four-day total of 72.1 pounds of Guntersville Bass for a top 12 finish, and more importantly valuable points toward the coveted “Angler of the Year “ title. Remitz is now sitting in 9th place in the AOY race with 1117 points and a legitimate shot of fishing in the post season, which the top 12 anglers in the standings will qualify to fish at the end of the season. Remitz is currently sitting in 9th place in the AOY race with 1117 points and a legitimate shot of fishing in the post season, which the top 12 anglers in the standings will qualify to fish at the end of the season.
There are three events remaining on the Elite Tour schedule and two of them could lay out to Derek’s favor. Remitz has made a good living fishing deep structure with his namesake “Signature Series Football Jig” which is produced by his title sponsor OMEGA Custom Tackle. Remitz was a Rookie sensation in 2007 when he pulled 111.7 pounds of Largemouth from the waters of Lake Amistad to join the “Century Cub” and become the first Rookie to ever win an Elite Series event. The very next event he scored a second place finish, and also bagged a 5th place finish on Clark’s Hill Reservoir later in the season on his namesake jig. Remitz went on to qualify for the prestigious Bass Master Classic and run away with the Rookie of the Year Title. The Elite Series will be stopping at one of the best ledge lakes in the country, Kentucky Lake on the Tennessee River, and they will also be competing on Clarks Hill Reservoir again, which is located in Georgia. If the fish have made it out to the ledges on these two impoundments, look for Remitz at top of the leader board.
With only 3 regular season events left on the Bass Master Elite Tour, The young OMEGA Pro is on a roll and right where he needs to be to make a run at the post season! To follow Derek’s progress tune into www.bassmaster.com or www.omegacustomtackle.com. |
